Her legacy
MOLLY JAYNE WILLIAMS #40

Coaches and professors spoke of her impeccable work ethic, her leadership, and how she defined the student-athlete. Friends said that they were blessed to know her, and new students told stories of how Molly was the first to say “hello” when they arrived on campus. In short, Molly was the kind of person that we all strive to be. She set an example that we should all be so lucky to follow.

Her outstanding abilities on the basketball court are irrelevant when compared to the quality of person that she was. Anyone who knew her would speak of her as an individual long before they mentioned basketball. They would tell you what a joy it was simply to be around her.

“I was honored to have the opportunity to know and coach someone of Molly’s character,” said Head Coach Corey Fox. “She came from a great family and loved to play basketball. I know that she loved to look up in the stands and see her parents there cheering her on.” Molly had tremendous support from her parents Ron and Candy who made the trip from Indiana for nearly every game last season.

Coach Fox went on to say, “Molly was just great to be around. She was a very happy kid who was well liked by all of her teammates, coaches, and anyone else who was fortunate enough to know her. This is a huge loss for us.”

Molly attended the Ben Davis school system from K-8th grade. We moved to the South Putnam area and she attended South Putnam High School from 9-12. She then went to Danville Area Community College for 2 yrs, and received a Associates Degree in Business, and then she went on and attended Limestone College to get her Bachelor’s degree. Her Dad and I will accept her Degree in the Spring for her. She averaged 18 credit hours a semester for 3 years of College and still played College Basketball, and one season of College Volleyball (Limestone). And still kept a “B” average.

Molly graduated with academics honors from both Elementary school, and Junior high school, she was National Honor Society for two years in High School, she received the Presidents award for Scholastic Honors, she was ranked 5th in her class, she was all-county 4 yrs in 3 sports, all-conference 3 yrs in 3 sports, all-sectionals in track 2 yrs, she was voted Putnam County Senior Athlete, she won a Gold Medal in Basketball in Sydney Australia, she received a full ride for basketball at Danville CC where she was All-Conference both years, and also was on a full ride for two more yrs at Limestone College for basketball, she was first in rebounds for the season, she was ranked 7th in NCAA history for the most rebounds in a single season, she was 4th on the team in scoring, she was Captain on the team when we lost her.

Molly played Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and ran Track in High School.
